Local storage saves recordings to an SD card inserted in your camera — it's free but limited by card capacity and vulnerable to theft. Cloud storage saves recordings to secure remote servers — it requires a subscription but offers remote playback, protection from physical damage, and rolling storage of 7 or 30 days.
