MIPC DocsConnect with Alexa
Link your MIPC camera to Amazon Alexa and view it on Echo Show devices.
1. Note before operation
- You need to have an Echo Show, and make sure it's online.
- Please set up your cameras according to the user manual.
- Please modify the camera nickname, nickname should be in English like: bedroom, office, home, house, baby, garden, shop etc.
You can follow the product instruction of Alexa (Echo Show) if you want to configure your Echo Show device.
2. Set up your IP camera first
Before linking to Alexa, set up the camera in the MIPC app. An outdoor camera supports both Wi-Fi and Ethernet cable connection. If the outdoor camera is being connected for the first time, you have to try the Ethernet cable connection.
Please confirm with your network supplier whether there are limits on your network, such as firewall, port forbidden, etc.
Step 1: Insert the cables and power on
Put the Ethernet cable and SD card into the camera, then power on the camera.
Step 2: Wait for the camera to start
There is a light sensor in front of the camera. Shelter it with your fingers and you will see all LED lights light up.
Step 3: Wait for the camera to come online
Wait for 3 minutes. It is better to have a stopwatch to count the time. The camera will auto come online.
Step 4: Log in to MIPC
Open the MIPC app and then log in to your account.
Step 5: Add the camera
Click on the "+" icon at the top left to add the camera.
Step 6: Finish adding the camera
Follow the on-screen prompts to finish adding the camera. Adding a camera is simple and easy. You may come across many pages such as Password modify, Wi-Fi configuring, Nickname modify and Time zone modify.
Step 7: Switch to Wi-Fi (optional)
You can disconnect the Ethernet cable after finishing setting up the camera, but you should make sure the camera is connected to your Wi-Fi. Open the camera real-time screen in the MIPC app on your phone. There is a setting icon on the top right. Click the setting icon to enter the device setting page. Find the "Network -> Wi-Fi" page to check the connection state and the IP address of the Wi-Fi. You can disconnect the Ethernet cable if the Wi-Fi connection state is showing "connected".
Step 8: Confirm the camera is back online
You have to wait 3 minutes after disconnecting the Ethernet cable. The camera will auto connect to your Wi-Fi and will be online via Wi-Fi again.
Note: You have to give the camera a nickname to distinguish cameras.
3. Connect the camera to Alexa
Please open your Alexa app, register an account and sign in, then follow the steps below.
Step 7: Close the "successfully linked" page
A page showing "mipc has been successfully linked" will appear, which indicates the connection between the camera and the Echo Show has been established. Close this window to discover the smart-home devices you can control with Alexa.
Step 8: Tap on "DISCOVER DEVICES"
There is a "Discover Devices" prompt. Tap "DISCOVER DEVICES". It will take about 20 seconds to discover the camera devices in your MIPC account.
4. Voice commands supported by MIPC
After finishing establishing the connection between the camera and the Echo Show, you can test the voice command.
Play live video of the camera:
{Alexa}, {show} {bed room}Note: "Show" could be changed to "Hide", which is the command to stop playing the live video. "Alexa" is the Echo Show's wake word, and "bed room" is the camera's nickname.
